Tangential full cone nozzle, Multiple hollow nozzle, Spiral nozzle
These full cone nozzle types are less susceptible to clogging due to their design. In the tangential design, there is no swirling element, the liquid enters the nozzle from the side direction and the increased circumferential velocity along the curves creates the full cone spraypattern experienced at the exit. Thus, there is essentially no risk of clogging with the tangential design, but at the same time the average droplet size is much larger than with the axial design.
Due to its helical design, the spiral nozzle has a relatively large cross-section, which makes it suitable for atomizing solids-containing media. Due to this, this type is mostly chosen for different chemical or environmental processes, e.g. flue gas cleaning or gas cooling. Adapting to such extreme operating conditions, the nozzle can even be delivered in very special material qualities, such as e.g. Hastelloy C 276.
With the multiple hollow cone nozzle (shower nozzle) an extra fine droplet size can be achieved, as each hole in the nozzle functions as a separate nozzle, which, as we know, allows the finest atomization. Multiple hollow cone spray pattern, in fact, create a complete full cone coverage over a very large area. One of the main applications of the nozzle type is fire protection, more precisely extinguishing with water mist.
