Tank cleaning nozzles

Tank washing

A separate group of nozzles are the tank washing heads. The tank washing heads are used to clean tanks, IBCs, cans, balloons, etc. washing, cleaning.

They are commonly used in the pharmaceutical, food and chemical industries in large numbers to eliminate manual tank cleaning.

As a general rule, the heads should be hung and fixed up to ¼-1/3 of topside of the tank, as this allows the tank body diagonals to be reached safely. We offer CIP heads of different sizes, types and flow capacity for different tank sizes.

On one hand, the cleaning is due to the radiant force acting on the surface of the tank. The droplets flowing out of the CIP head have high kinetic energy and strike to the tank wall at high speed. In addition, there is draining medium on the wall of the tank, which also has a cleaning effect. (shear effect is generated between the surfaces).

The other effect is the chemical cleaning effect, as in most cases we are talking about some kind of chemical cleaning.

If there is a stir bar or other obstacle in the tank, this must be taken into account when choosing the number and arrangement of the heads. To avoid “shaded areas”. In this case, it is advisable to use several washing heads. (eg in 1/3 – 2/3 position)

There are two basic groups of tank wash nozzles, also known as tank wash CIP heads:

– fixed CIP heads

-rotating CIP heads

The fixed heads are used for rinsing and soaking, while the rotating CIP heads are used for impact washing. (where the surface impact power is important)

Rotating tank washing heads

The purpose of the rotating washing heads is to remove even coarser dirt from the tank wall during washing tasks. The movement of the head is caused by the flow of the medium, the head is driven by the flow volume of the medium itself. Lubrication is provided by the medium.

The heads can have a spray angle of 360 °, 270 ° or 180 °.

In the latter case, they can wash downwards or upwards.

They can be supplied with a threaded design or with a pin or tri-clamp connection.

In terms of material quality, the most common is the use of stainless steel (AISI316L / 1.4404), but often plastic is also suitable for the task. (PVDF, PTFE)

We can supply CIP washing heads in ATEX versions: in the case of metal heads, our washing heads are ATEX-certified, and in the case of plastic, they are associated with carbon fiber, thus becoming conductive and meeting the explosion safety regulations.

Fixed tank washing heads

In the case of fixed CIP tank washing heads, we are talking about a static washing ball, which can be installed in the tank to perform washing and especially rinsing tasks. There are holes in the surface of the sphere through which the washing medium flows out.

Fixed CIP heads are used for rinsing tanks (flushing between technological processes) or for smaller washing tasks. The reason is that a fixed CIP head cannot exert the same surface force on the tank wall as a rotating CIP head.

The number of holes together determines the volume of the flow with the connection size of the head.

Depending on the location of the holes, we can talk about scattering angles of 360 °, 270 ° and 180 ° (down or up).

The “top” of each fixed head sphere is also provided with a hole. This is because the CIP heads are installed with the sphere facing down, so the medium must flow out of the sphere and not stay in the bottom.

Depending on the connection, we can also distinguish between internally threaded and pin-holded CIP heads.

Their material quality is AISI 316L / 1.4404

Surface roughness: hand-polished or normal roughness inside and out as required

We also undertake the delivery of special heads, we can also manufacture the appropriate washing head for non-standard requests, even with non-standard parameters!

High pressure tank washers (turbines)

In many cases, the use of low-pressure fixed CIP heads and rotating CIP heads may not gain satisfactory results, or the type of contamination itself may justify the use of high pressure.

Our turbines can wash up to 200 bar at a flow rate of up to 200 l / min. The turbines rotate about their own axis and the propeller on them also rotates perpendicular to the axis of the head. Nozzles are located on the turbine.

The flow volume in the heads can be varied within certain limits by a diffuser built into the heads. The use of a specific diffuser allows the flow capacity to be adjusted within certain limits. By replacing the diffuser, the max amount of medium flowing can be freely determined.

The pressure can be adjusted by the size of the nozzles on the propeller. The number of nozzles can be 2-4.

Some of the heads are self-rotating, so it is moved by the flow of the medium, and on other part is driven by a motor.

The turbines are made of AISI316 stainless steel.
